Fusion Drive vs SSD is a common source of uncertainty for those considering purchasing an iMac. You don't have many customization options when purchasing a Mac device except storage. Fusion Drive was introduced in October 2012 and is utilized in Apple Inc. products. It is a hybrid SSD (solid-state drive) and a Serial ATA HDD. Fusion Drive, to put it another way, is a hybrid drive. An SSD is merely another type of storage device. SSDs store data differently than traditional hard drives because they use integrated circuit assemblies as memory.
