IDF Chief ‘Surprised' As Katz Says ‘Disarming Hezbollah’ Is War Aim, 6 Troops Killed in Lebanon Israel lost six soldiers during clashes with Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon, the IDF announced on November 13. This was reportedly one of the heaviest single-day losses in the operation that began in late September against Hezbollah.The casualties occurred as Israeli troops pushed deeper into Lebanese territory amid an intensification of violence. The clashes came as troops moved into the second line of villages across from the border, Israeli media reported citing the military.The Israel Defence Forces had recently said it had further expanded its ground operation in southern Lebanon. All the slain troops served in IDF’s Golani Brigade’s 51st Battalion, the Israeli military said. At least one other Israeli soldier is said to have been moderately wounded in the fighting.
